Wheel thrown and altered stoneware oil bottle with cork closure.
This is a very limited edition glaze as I'm not sure I'll have the same effects again! Many things go into a glaze result, and when you work with a kiln over time, you grow to expect certain results. I am so grateful to have access to a reduction kiln to fire my salvaged and new work, but it is a new kiln to me, and as such, the first few firings will give me information that I can use to grow those expectations. It's rather exciting to feel like everything coming out of the kiln will be new and unique to what I normally expect, and over time I will make adjustments to both glaze application and firing technique to achieve consistent results.
This bottle is glazed inside and on the neck with Granite glaze and outside with Crazy Green. "OIL" is drawn with a wax resist tool on a red iron oxide wash.
