Handmade for the Professional Kitchen.
I love food, and I love to cook - it's what first attracted me to making pottery. I saw that I could make work for the foods I love, and subsequently I found I could also create recipes for the dishes I love. Even better, I love to see my pottery in the hands of passionate, creative, and talented food professionals. My work is handmade with high fire stoneware and food-safe glazes. Pieces are made to be used, and just about any piece is dishwasher safe (even commercial dishwashers). Orders may be customized in form, glaze, and/or branding. Thanks for looking, and if you'd like to contact me, there's a link at the bottom of this page.

Why Handmade?
You take the time and attention to carefully source or even grow your ingredients. You know your farmers and growers. You pride yourself in creating exquisite meals that are part of a complete experience. You invite patrons into 'your house', and you oversee every detail. Your work deserves a worthy canvas, and handmade ceramic service ware, organic and unique, adds immense value to the complete dining experience.
About the Pottery:
Each piece is hand-thrown and/or hand made and altered stoneware clay that is fired to fully vitrify the clay and glazes. All materials are non-toxic and food-safe. Pieces are sturdy and safe for dishwasher, and when appropriate are oven safe when heated in advance or with the oven to avoid thermal shock. I work in small batch production, and you may choose from existing designs or collaborate with me to create your own signature pieces. Branding is available, and work may be designed for service use alone or for service/sale promotions.
"The only breakage we have had is with our commercial plates. Your beautiful, handmade pieces are also durable. We want you to replace all the commercial ware!" Younes Sabouh, Owner, Tandem Restaurant, Carrboro, NC. |

About the Potter:
Lori Theriault a studio potter in Asheville, NC who loves to cook and loves to make pieces that both complement and deserve to share the stage with exquisite ingredients and meals. Her first draw to clay in 2001 was sparked by her passion in the kitchen, and from her first experience she was dreaming of making plates, bowls, and platters to serve seasonal creations.
Her own experiences working in restaurants and in catering have given Lori a keen eye to making pieces that are beautiful on their own, durable for regular service, and that transform to a stunning canvas for artisan-crafted signature dishes.
