Bottles & Vases:
Finishing Forms on the Wheel

June 1-5, 2009

Intimate, hands on workshop, where the focus will be on throwing dry, altering and finishing on the wheel. Various departures from a basic bottle form will include groupings and sets, with an emphasis on pattern development.


Class size: minimum 4, maximum 6
Intermediate/Advanced throwing level required.

Tiles & Hand Made Books

June 8-12, 2009

This is two spectacular workshops in one! Participants will explore ways to make texture on tiles in the first half of the week, with the focus on using the tiles in the cover of a hand made book. Mid-week we begin exploration of the book making process, including collage for the back cover and pages. The end of the week will be incorporating the hand made tiles into a beautiful hand bound book of each participant's design.

Teapot Intensive

June 22-26, 2009


A detailed exploration of the teapot form. This intimate workshop will spend the week taking a close look at all parts of the teapot: body, spout, lid, handle. If you've made it to lidded forms and are ready to take the next step, or if you've been looking to take your own teapot form to the next level, this is your workshop!

Class size: minimum 4, maximum 6
Beginner/Intermediate level welcome, although preferred that all participants have successfully completed lidded forms.

Bonsai!!

June 20-21, 2009

This weekend demonstration workshop will suit clay and gardening enthusiast alike! On Saturday, participants will enjoy demonstrations on making a good bonsai pot, and on Sunday we progress to a group discussion an instruction on soil preparation, planting and pruning of bonsai trees.

Boxes & Tiles

July 13-17, 2009

The world of slabs exposed!! Demonstrations will include folded slabs, press molds, soft & hard slab work and anything else on the verge of discovery. Surface textures and patterns will be explored through stamps, layered slips, colorful terra sigillata & multiple firings.

Western Raku &
Alternative Firing
Instructor: Holly deSaillan

July 20-25, 2009

A contemporary look at an ancient technique. Participants will learn hand building techniques that focus on Raku firing. From the history of Raku to contemporary artists to building your own kiln, participants will discuss and/or experience all aspects of these dynamic firing techniques.

Class size: minimum 5, maximum 8
Experience with clay,
but not necessarily Raku.

Fee: $600

**Participants must have their own kiln gloves and must bring proper attire for firing (cotton jeans/pants, long sleeves, close toe shoes).
