Empty Bowls:

Crazy Green Studios is proud to support the Asheville Empty Bowls luncheon and the efforts of Imagine Render to raise awareness and funds to end hunger. The Asheville luncheon takes place every year on World Food Day, October 16, at the Doubletree Biltmore. Area artists donate beautiful hand made bowls, local restaurants donate delicious soup, bread and desserts and we all convene at the graciously donated Doubletree Biltmore for lunch. Hungry supporters buy a ticket that gets them a yummy lunch and one of the many beautiful bowls, and all the proceeds go directly to Manna Food Bank, where wonderous things are done with each precious dollar to support food banks throughout western North Carolina.

In addition to making bowls for the annual event, Crazy Green Studios holds events during the year that contribute to both the annual event and in support of Manna Food Bank. These include:

SPECIAL EMPTY BOWLS EVENT!!! SATURDAY, APRIL 11, 2009:
Crazy Green Studios, with East West Asheville/2nd Saturday Artist Market, will present a hands-on Empty Bowls event to benefit MANNA Food Bank. We'll have the tent set up outside the studio, and several ways you can support MANNA and learn about other ways to combat hunger in our community.

Donations will be accepted in canned goods and other non-perishables for MANNA Food Bank. There will also be pottery for sale under the tent, with all proceeds benefiting MANNA. And for the hands-on fun, you can decorate a bisque-fired bowl! These bowls will be glazed and fired for use and sale at the annual Empty Bowls luncheon on World Food Day. Representatives and information from MANNA Food Bank and Imagine Render/Empty Bowls will also be on hand to answer questions.

Ongoing bowl sales to support Empty Bowls and Manna Food Bank
Lori is always making extra bowls for Empty Bowls, and she invites all her studio members, assistants and anyone who wants to come to the studio and make a bowl to do the same. These bowls are on sale at the studio, with all proceeds going to Manna Food Bank.

2nd Saturday Artist Market
Crazy Green Studios is dedicating its booth during the 2nd Saturday Artist Market to supporting the Empty Bowls project. Bowls will be available for sale, and bisque-fired bowls will be on hand for anyone wanting to decorate them. These bowls will be fired and saved for the annual luncheon and/or for sale in the studio.

Weekend Workshops:
Periodic 'workshops' will be held at Crazy Green Studios to make bowls for the cause, with demos in the making, trimming and decorating of said bowls. We'll have bisqued bowls at these events as well, for underglaze decorating.
